Welcome!

This Basic Foot Care course is made up of

  • three learning modules and
  • an assessment of your basic foot care knowledge and skills.

If you look to the left, you will see the Main Menu. You can use the Main Menu to navigate between modules.

We recommend that you

  • do the modules in order
  • complete a module when you start it (none of them are very long) and
  • use this planning sheet to keep a track of where you are up to.

If you look to the top right hand corner of the page you will see the Help! button. Please contact us if you get stuck on something or just want to discuss a topic further.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Identify normal anatomy and physiology of the foot

  • Describe your own foot care role and responsibilities in the workplace

  • Perform a basic foot screening and identify factors that put the foot at risk of developing complications

  • Identify a range of common foot problems that require referral to a health practitioner and suggest simple ways to look after the problem in the mean time

  • Describe and safely perform a basic foot hygiene routine including the cutting and filing of normal toenails
